A CALL TO ACTION:

55,000 Degrees, a public-private partnership, was formed to achieve a goal of 55,000 new bachelor's and associate's degrees by 2020 (40,000 bachelor degrees, 15,000 associate degrees). A sub goal of 15,000 degrees was established by a group of African American Leaders called the 15K Degrees Initiative whose goal is 15,000 of the 55,000 is African American.

The 15K Faith Action Team, Louisville Urban League, Interdenominational Ministerial Coalition (IMC), and other partners are mobilizing and engaging leaders and members of local African American Churches for the purpose of "growing a college going culture" within the Church community. The 2012 Education Summit will focus on "tools" Church leaders can use to promote and support post-secondary educational attainment for youth and adults. The Summit will feature a review of the Faith Action Tool Kit, a comprehensive set of strategies that Churches can use to help members find and achieve their "calling" in life through pursuit of completing a college degree.

The Summit includes a keynote speaker, panel discussions, demonstration of the toolkit for churches, exhibits from colleges and universities, and youth workshop.

We look forward to seeing you there.
