The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking public input on areas needing highway safety education or specific locations with recurring traffic violations. They contacted the Louisville Urban League to host a community conversation for downtown and West End residents.

Louisville is a priority for NHTSA due to its significantly overrepresented pedestrian fatalities (33% of state pedestrian fatalities while having only 20% of the population). The events are structured as town hall-style meetings where community members can share traffic safety concerns. The NHTSA team will catalog all feedback received during the event and use it to inform future changes.
NHTSA will raffle off car seats (with certified technicians present) and provide childcare services, food, and accessibility accommodations to increase attendance. We are asking people to register in advance so that we can estimate the number of attendees.
