LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) — On Friday the Louisville Urban League celebrated the opening of its newly installed miniature golf course in Louisville’s west end.
The 9-hole course is located in the 1500 block of West Broadway, next to the Louisville Urban League.
A few youngsters were given the chance to test it out during Friday morning’s grand opening.
Louisville Urban League President and CEO Sadiqa Reynolds says the golf course fills an important gap in the west end.
“It’s important to have it because children all over this city deserve to have the same amenities that everybody else does,” Reynolds said. “So whether you’re in the east end, south end or the west end, these young people deserve to have amenities. So we wanted to offer that. And since nobody else was doing it, we decided to.”
The golf course is free and open to the public.
Reynolds says a generous donor helped make the golf course possible, and now they’re hoping another donor will help pay to put a fence around the course.
Organizers are also planning on building a track at 30th and Muhammad Ali, which is expected to be complete in a couple of years.
