LOUISVILLE— Legal Aid Society has launched a new webpage for the community to ask legal questions about unemployment insurance, taxes, stimulus payments, social safety-net programs like KTAP or Medicaid, housing and other legal questions related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The webpage is located at: www.yourlegalaid.org/
Legal Aid Society encourages individuals who have legal questions specific to an ongoing case or about their individual circumstance to call our intake line directly at 502-584-1254. Legal Aid Society cannot provide legal advice in a group setting but can do so individually to those who call our intake line and apply for our services.
LEGAL AID SOCIETY’S COVID-19 RESPONSE AND RESOURCES
Civil legal aid is a critical resource in our community’s efforts to fight the COVID-19 pandemic and the economic impact due to the virus. In March, as businesses began to close and Kentuckians began to lose their jobs, Legal Aid Society launched a resource page on our website: www.yourlegalaid.org/
Resources include:
TOP FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT YOUR RIGHTS AS A RENTER
TOP FIVE THINGS TO KNOW IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
TOP FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT UNEMPLOYMENT INSURNACE
TOP FIVE THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT STIMULUS PAYMENTS
The webpage also features a robust Frequently Asked Questions page about unemployment insurance and employee rights.
LEGAL AID SOCIETY IS STILL TAKING CASES
Legal Aid Society’s office is currently closed to the public, but our intake line is open and our staff is still taking cases and representing Kentuckians who have civil legal issues. We provide free civil legal help to individuals and families whose incomes are at or below 125% to 200% of the federal poverty guidelines on issues related to income, family, housing, safety, and health. Our service area includes Breckinridge, Bullitt, Grayson, Hardin, Henry, Jefferson, Larue, Marion, Meade, Nelson, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, Trimble, and Washington Counties in Kentucky.
