The Louisville Urban League is proud to present its most prestigious event of the year, the Derby Gala, which will take place on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. This annual “party with a purpose” is the preeminent fundraising event in support of our mission to advance economic empowerment in historically underserved communities, but In these uncertain times, it represents so much more.

For one night, LUL will create an evening of joy and wonder. In moments of conflict, joy is more than a feeling – it’s an act of resistance. It’s a way to reclaim our strength and build a brighter future. The Louisville Urban League believes in the power of joy, and we invite you to join our revolution at the 2025 Derby Gala!

The event will feature Grammy-nominated artist Janelle Monae. Monae’s musical style is an eclectic mix of R&B, funk, soul, pop, and Afrofuturism. The Electric Lady is also an Emmy Award-winning actress known for her roles in Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Hidden Figures, and Moonlight. A consummate performer, Monae’s shows are celebrated for their high energy, musicality, theatricality, and audience participation. The fundraiser will also feature media partner WLKY and include appearances by Bella Rae, DJ Z-Nyce, Monica “Primetime” Bizzle, and more!
