Louisville Urban League and CEO Receive National Honor

Lyndon Pryor, President and CEO, was honored with the prestigious John W. Mack Medal of Honor during the 2025 National Urban League Conference, held in Cleveland, OH. The John W. Mack Medal of Honor is one of the National Urban League’s highest accolades, awarded to an Affiliate CEO for extraordinary and unwavering commitment to addressing social and economic equality as part of the Urban League Movement.

John W. Mack was the President and CEO of the Urban League of Flint (MI) and later the CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League until his retirement. He became a member of the NUL Board of Trustees and chair of the Board’s Affiliate Services Committee. He also co-chaired the Committee on 21st Century Urban League Affiliate Standards.

Pryor thanked the entire Louisville Urban League staff, stating, “This award isn’t about me; it’s a testament to the hard work and dedication of my team. We continue to fight an uphill battle for social and economic equality for Black people and others, not because we are so noble but because our community deserves it.”

This is the first time the Louisville Urban League has received this award. In addition to Pryor’s recognition, the conference honored other Affiliate presidents, including Stephanie Hightower of the Columbus Urban League, Michael McMillan of the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, and Karen Freeman Wilson of the Chicago Urban League. These distinguished affiliates are designated “Affiliate of the Year” for their respective market sizes.
