Community Response to the SNAP Benefit Food Crisis

And Where to Get Help

In response to the ongoing food insecurity issues in Jefferson County and the impending crisis stemming from the government shutdown and potential suspension of SNAP benefits, the Louisville Urban League organized a call with community organizations throughout the Commonwealth. The goal was to share information, identify opportunities for coordination, and provide accurate information to the communities we serve.

Dozens of organizations provide programs and services to meet ongoing needs and they need our help. If you need help or want to help, find an opportunity below. If your organization offers support or services, please complete this form: Coordinating Louisville Food Efforts.

Where to get help: Dare to Care Food Bank, Association of Community Ministries – Food Pantries, Feed the West-Change Today Change Tomorrow, ElderServe, Southwest Community Ministries, DCBS, Neighborhood House, Louisville Pride Center Food Pantry, JCPS School & Community Nutrition Services, Eastern Kentucky Mutual Aid Community Meals, Black Soil KY, and Food Chain Lexington.

Where to lend a hand: Dare to Care Food Bank, Feed Louisville, Association of Community Ministries, ElderServe, Food Literacy Project,  Neighborhood House, Kentucky Harvest, Louisville Pride Foundation, Prayer Changes Things Movement, Eastern Kentucky Mutual Aid, Black Soil KY, and Food Chain Lexington.

As always, and like so many others in this community, the Louisville Urban League is ready to offer support, input, and guidance wherever possible. For additional help, contact our Community Health Navigators at (502) 585-4622.
