The Louisville Urban League in cooperation with Louisville Chapter of the NAACP and Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is hosting a special memorial event celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou.
The event–“Louisville Remembers: Maya Angelou”–is being held from 11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., on Friday, June 6, in the Community Room of the Louisville Urban League, located at 1535 West Broadway, Louisville, KY.
The local tribute, which is the day before the family’s private memorial service in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, will include readings from Dr. Angelou’s poetry, as well as video excerpts of her presenting her poetry to others.
The remembrance is open to the public. Space, however, is limited. For additional information about the event, please contact the President’s Office of Louisville Urban League at (502) 566-3415.
