Tranika’s Story
Tranika, a mother of three, recently moved to Louisville from Florida. She took a blind leap to secure her ideal future, moving without a single contact and was living in her car. She reached out to the Louisville Urban League and was able to secure housing through our Deposit Assistance program. From there, she has been able to start her own business, creating stability for her family. Her children are enrolled in LUL’s Education programs (Project Ready, ACT Prep, and Kumon Intensive Tutoring) placing their feet on solid ground academically. Tranika reminds us of the possibilities of multiple stories. Her story did not end with her exodus from Florida, but the next chapter started with her arrival to Louisville. She is not only the main character but also a hero. When her children succeed in their own life-building, it will be because of the example she set as the author of her new life.
