In honor of his unparalleled dedication and service as the President of the Louisville Urban League, the Board of Directors of LUL and REBOUND, Inc. are excited to announce the plan for a jointly owned, multi-family affordable housing complex located at 1622 W. Market Street, Louisville, Kentucky, shall be officially named “The Richmond” in honor of Benjamin K. Richmond.
Ben Richmond served as LUL President and CEO from 1987 to 2015, leaving an indelible mark on the organization, the West End of Louisville, and the broader Urban League Movement. Mr. Richmond is also the esteemed founder of ReBOUND, Inc., an organization committed to addressing affordable housing challenges. Ben‘s tireless commitment to affordable housing, the West End of Louisville, and improving Black communities everywhere reflects a lifetime of service and advocacy.
The naming of “The Richmond” is a lasting tribute to Mr. Richmond’s significant contributions to affordable housing, the West End community, the Urban League Movement, and Black people globally. Both Boards of Directors express their profound gratitude to Benjamin K. Richmond for his outstanding leadership and contributions as President Emeritus and founder of ReBOUND, Inc.
A dedication ceremony and unveiling of “The Richmond” shall be organized to celebrate and formally recognize the naming of the affordable housing complex. Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2024.
