Community Groups to Host Mayoral Candidate Forum

A coalition of prominent civic organizations is urging community members to attend the 2026 Mayoral Candidate Forum on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6 PM at Louisville Central High School. This event, hosted by the Louisville Urban League, NAACP, League of Women Voters, Black Leadership Action Coalition of Kentucky, National Council of Negro Women, CLOUT, Links, and ADOS KY, is positioned as the first and most critical opportunity for the public to hear directly from those running for mayor.

The forum takes on new significance following the 2024 Kentucky General Assembly bill that made the Louisville mayoral race nonpartisan. Voters can no longer rely on party affiliation as a “shorthand” for gauging candidates’ positions on various issues; candidate forums are now essential tools for evaluating those seeking the city’s highest office. Louisville Public Media President Kenya Young and WDRB news reporter Gilbert Corsey will moderate the Mayoral Forum.

All candidates who filed for the Mayoral election are invited to participate, and currently, all but three, including incumbent Mayor Greenberg, have confirmed their participation. Organizers believe that candidate attendance is paramount for demonstrating transparency and respect for the electorate. The community is encouraged to attend to show overwhelming support for transparent governance and let all candidates know their participation is vital to this public discussion.

Candidates will be asked a series of pre-selected questions, and all voters are encouraged to attend and ensure their voices are heard. The public is encouraged to use this forum as a critical step in their civic engagement and to join the ongoing Power Shift campaign. We urge all community members to cement their commitment to change by taking the Pledge to Vote and consulting the comprehensive Advocacy Guide LUL has published to fully inform themselves on key issues and drive positive change in Louisville.
