Louisville Urban League Celebrates Juneteenth and Kentucky Freedom Day with City-Wide Community Calendar
The Louisville Urban League, the city’s Juneteenth Jubilee Commission, and other local partners are joining forces again to turn the 2026 Juneteenth Community Calendar into a city-wide marketing powerhouse. In 2025, the League launched the interactive digital calendar, www.juneteenthlouisville.guide, to maximize exposure for local events and promote opportunities for collaboration in celebration of freedom, heritage, and community.
While the platform serves as the premier guide for upcoming Juneteenth celebrations—featuring exciting local programs like the Agape Day, Juneteenth Celebration at Bellarmine University and the Melannaire Marketplace Block Party—the calendar’s mission extends far beyond the month of June. The hub is built to highlight year-round freedom-related activities throughout the Louisville area, with a special emphasis on events related to August 8, historically recognized as Freedom Day in Kentucky.
“We know there may be lots of things happening around the city, and we would like to maximize exposure to what is planned and possibly create new opportunities for the community,” representatives shared.
The coalition is extending an open invitation to community organizations, neighborhood groups, and local businesses to publicize their events on the page. Whether you are planning an educational workshop, an arts festival, or a commemorative ceremony, adding your event to the community-driven platform helps build a unified front in celebrating Black history and liberation.
How to Get Involved
- Submit Your Event: Organizers can publicize their activities by visiting the website and clicking the “SUBMIT AN EVENT” button to add their programming to the directory.
- Explore Events: Visit the calendar frequently to discover upcoming celebrations and activities in your neighborhood.
- Partner and Collaborate: Share the calendar link and discover opportunities to support by becoming a vendor, sponsor, or event promoter.
