“Legacy Fund” to Provide On-going Support for Urban League’s Programs and Services
Louisville Urban League will establish the “Ben Richmond Legacy Empowerment Fund” in honor of the fund’s namesake, who is retiring October 1, after nearly three decades of leading the organization. The endowment fund was officially launched at the “Retirement Celebration” for Mr. Richmond held on Thursday, October 8th at the Kentucky Center for African American Heritage.
“Ben has devoted his life to empowering people and changing lives through his work for the Louisville Urban League,” said Daniel Hall, Chair of the LUL Board of Directors and Vice President for Community Engagement at the University of Louisville. “Countless disadvantaged individuals and families have been empowered and have a better quality of life today thanks to the leadership of Ben Richmond.”
Proceeds from the Retirement Celebration will go to the Legacy Fund being created to support the Louisville Urban League’s programs and services for many years to come. The fund will also support an annual award given to an individual or organization whose work and community impact exemplify Mr. Richmond’s legacy of Empowering people and Changing lives.
