Urban League Wins Using Your Voice Award At
The Metro United Way Community Impact Ceremony
The Metro United Way Community Impact Ceremony
The Louisville Urban League (LUL) has been named the recipient of the Using Your Voice Award at the Metro United Way Community Impact Awards Ceremony (Immies). Selected through a public vote, the award recognizes the organization’s instrumental role in advancing policy solutions to address the root causes of systemic social and economic inequality.
“As a 106-year-old civil rights organization, our mission has always been to amplify the voices of those who are too often silenced,” said Lyndon Pryor, President & CEO of the Louisville Urban League. “Winning an award based on community votes is especially meaningful. It proves that the work we do isn’t just for the community—it is powered by the community. We are honored that our neighbors recognize these efforts, and we remain more committed than ever to turning that collective energy into lasting policy change.”
Translating Recognition into Action: The Power Shift
While the “Using Your Voice” award celebrates recent successes—including codifying the LMPD Consent Decree, advocating for environmental justice regarding Hyperscale Data Centers, and championing the Clean Slate Kentucky Coalition—the League is looking toward the future.
The award serves as a launchpad for the Power Shift campaign, a bold initiative designed to move the community from passive observation to active influence. By fostering civic empowerment through education and Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts like Souls to the Polls, the League is ensuring that every resident has the tools to demand systemic accountability.
The Louisville Urban League invites all community members to join the movement. Whether through volunteering, attending a policy briefing, or participating in the Power Shift campaign, your voice is the primary engine for change.
“This award isn’t a finish line; it’s fuel,” added Pryor. “The ‘Power Shift’ is about ensuring that the community’s voice isn’t just heard when it’s convenient or popular, but at every policy table and ballot box in the state.”
