The purpose of the Louisville Urban League Young Professionals (LULYP) is to support the objectives of the National Urban League, Louisville Urban League, and National Urban League Young Professionals. Our mission is to promote social and economic empowerment in Metro Louisville through personal development and community involvement in five areas:

  • Financial Literacy and Empowerment
  • Youth Mentoring and Development
  • Civic Engagement and Advocacy
  • Personal and Professional Development
  • Health Literacy and Advocacy

Simone Sibley-McBride
Simone Sibley-McBride President
Simone Sibley-McBride is honored to serve by your side as your President Elect. As a Health Equity Training Coordinator at the Center for Health Equity within the Louisville Metro Public Health & Wellness Department (LMPHW), she is a dedicated specialist in Racial and Health Equity strategy, curricula development, and consensus-building facilitation.

Passionate about inclusivity and empathy for all, the foundation of all her work and leadership style is built on mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and holistic well-being. She creates inclusive and psychologically safe spaces needed to accomplish challenging equitable work. Fun fact: Simone climbed the highest mountain in Barcelona, Spain, and slept in a cave. She can’t wait to make change together!

Lamonique Gholson
Lamonique GholsonVice President
Lamonique Gholson serves as an Empowerment Navigator and Program Assistant within the Health Department at the Louisville Urban League. With a steadfast commitment to bridging gaps in Black and Brown communities, Lamonique channels her passion into empowering individuals to attain and maintain self-sufficiency through social wellness and emotional intelligence initiatives.

For the past eight years, Lamonique has dedicated herself to providing invaluable grief support programs for youth impacted by trauma and violence, embodying her dedication to fostering resilience and healing within her community.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Lamonique finds joy in spending time with her family of four, which includes her two beloved Goldendoodles. She also embraces her love for culinary arts and nature.

Mya Davidson
Mya DavidsonSecretary
Mya Davidson, a Digital Designer at the Louisville Urban League, holds a B.A. in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing from the University of Louisville. She is dedicated to transforming imagination into reality through her innovative and impactful designs.

With a strong passion for amplifying voices within the Black community, Mya leads marketing initiatives that inspire and uplift others. Her expertise in digital design enables her to craft visually compelling and meaningful content that resonates with diverse audiences.

Gerian Baldon
Gerian BaldonTreasurer
Hello my name is Gerian Baldon and I am thrilled to serve as the Treasurer for YP. My education and work experience has all centered around accounting and I’m excited to be able to use my skill set in new ways.

In 2021, I helped pilot the Black Business Department at the Louisville Urban League, where my work as a financial coach focuses on helping small black businesses create and understand their financials, assess their overall financial health, and prepare to scale and become capital-ready.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy traveling with my husband and two daughters, exploring new destinations and making lasting memories with my family.

Al'Lisha J.D. Hanserd, Esq. Parliamentarian
I am a dedicated attorney based in Louisville, Kentucky, with extensive experience in corporate counsel, litigation, and compliance. I hold a Juris Doctor from Northern Kentucky University, Chase College of Law, and am admitted to the Kentucky Bar.

Additionally, I am actively involved in the legal community, serving as Chairperson of the Younger Lawyer Section of the Louisville Bar Association and as a member of the Kentucky Young Lawyers Division Community Outreach Committee.

I am excited to join the leadership team with the Louisville Urban League Young Professionals and look forward to contributing to its mission and positive impact on the community.

Nyshia Taylor
Nyshia TaylorMembership, Chair
Nyshia Taylor, a Louisville native, is thrilled to serve as LULYP’s Membership Chair! A “comeback kid” to LULYP, Nyshia is passionate about community service and expanding the organization’s outreach.

An Associate at Booz Allen Hamilton, Nyshia brings extensive expertise in project management, strategic communications, and branding. She holds an MBA from Bellarmine University, a BA in electronic media communication from Morehead State University, and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

A former LULYP member (2013–2016), Nyshia benefited from its networking, civic engagement, and leadership opportunities. She is excited to share these experiences and grow LULYP’s engaged membership through outreach initiatives.

Tara Williams
Tara Williams Membership, Co-Chair
Tara Williams proudly serves as the Membership Co-Chair for the Louisville Urban League Young Professionals (LULYP). Through LULYP, she helps create a space where young professionals can connect, grow, and thrive among their peers. Together, we foster opportunities for leadership, development, and networking, enriching the community we call home.

Tara is a Financial Empowerment Counselor at the Louisville Urban League, where she helps individuals and families achieve financial success and freedom. With over 8 years of experience in financial education, she’s eager to share her knowledge and be a part of the financial journeys of those she serves.

Jayvin Shockency
Jayvin Shockency Fund Development, Chair
Hello, My name is Jayvin Shockency and I serve as the Chair of Fund Development. I’ve been with REBOUND as a Construction Specialist for a year and a half. Before REBOUND, I graduated from the Kentuckian Builds program at the Louisville Urban League. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to use my skills and mind to help YP raise funds and continue helping the community.
