Kumon Learning Center

The Louisville Urban League offers scholarships for JCPS students grades K-12 to area Kumon Learning Centers. Kumon’s unique approach to learning can help your students:

  • Master math and reading, often helping them earn their best grades ever
  • Build study skills such as confidence, focus, and work ethic
  • Reduce homework stress and test anxiety

Upon enrollment, your student will complete an assessment that provides valuable insight into where they stand in their learning. The instructor will prepare an individualized lesson plan for your kids and support them as they progress through Kumon.

Equitas Prep ACT Initiative

The Louisville Urban League offers scholarships to JCPS high school students grades 9-12 for the Equitas Prep ACT Intensive Tutoring program. Equitas Prep offers intensive group tutoring sessions designed to improve student’s ACT test scores. Students will receive:

  • A baseline ACT score through a diagnostic Mock Test that is timed and proctored by experienced staff under simulated test conditions with immediate subsection and composite score results
  • Instructions on how to outsmart the ACT using essential exam tips, tricks, and shortcuts
  • One-on-one ACT tutoring in a small group setting 
  • Real-time assistance on practice problems
  • Game planning, individualized practice test content review, and strategies.

Students enrolled in this equity initiative receive a superior tutoring experience valued at $5,000 at no cost to families.

Participation Criteria

  • Parents must sign a one year contract

  • Parents may be asked to repay if the contract is not completed
  • Parents need to provide transportation
  • Participants must be JCPS students, K – 12 grade

  • Participants must maintain 70% school attendance

  • Participants must maintain 70% Attendance to an approved Youth Development Program (ex: Project Ready, Church Youth Programs, Community Center Programs, Youth Sports, JCPS Sports)
