The Reily Reentry Project

The Reily Reentry Project, named for local lawyer and former Urban League board member Stephen Reily, began as a simple idea. Several of the clients the Louisville Urban League served were ineligible to vote, obtain better-paying jobs, or were excluded from housing due to their criminal history. As an attorney, Reily understood that many of these clients were eligible for expungement but could not afford legal representation or the associated fees. He worked with former LUL President Sadiqa Reynolds to establish an expungement clinic and pledged an initial $100,000 to fund it. Six years later, the work continues and has progressed from a one-day clinic to a regular service, removing barriers for individuals with criminal histories and promoting their reintegration into society.
