The Louisville Urban League Derby Gala is the organization’s signature event. Previously held each winter, the gala moved to Derby Week in 2017 and saw more than 650 people celebrate the League and the Kentucky Derby. The Gala includes a seated dinner, a performance by a national recording artist, and dancing. This year’s event, presented by Brown-Forman and Atria Senior Living features R&B icon Charlie Wilson, and is sponsored in part by, (Diamond) HJI, (Gold) LG&E, (Silver) Toyota, Ford/UAW, Bellarmine University, Republic Bank, Butchertown Grocery, PNC, and (Media) WLKY and iHeart Media. The Derby Gala is an official Kentucky Derby Festival event.
