Advocacy & Initiatives

The Louisville Urban League’s Center for Justice and Policy Initiatives advances racial equity through civic engagement, policy advocacy, and direct services that address systemic barriers to full participation in democracy. The Center registers and mobilizes voters, provides nonpartisan civic education, and offers free expungement services to help justice-involved individuals regain access to employment, housing, and the ballot box. Each year, we assist hundreds in clearing criminal records and engage thousands in civic action through outreach, voter registration, and community forums. We also track and respond to legislation at the state and local levels, advocating for reforms in criminal justice, voting rights, and economic equity. By pairing grassroots empowerment with targeted policy change, the Center ensures that marginalized communities have a seat at the table and a voice at the polls.

Expungement Services

The Reily Reentry Project is designed to assist Louisville Urban League clients and others seeking to expunge their record.

The project facilitates the expungement process and covers most, if-not-all, related fees at no expense. In exchange, participants are asked to enroll in any League program that will equip them with the tools they need to be more successful as they move into more prosperous futures.

VOTE!

2024 is a historical election in Kentucky. The votes we cast will elect our next President, choose local and state representatives, and decide on a constitutional amendment that could change the future of education in Kentucky. After a dismal 41% Jefferson County-wide voter turnout in the 2023 primary election, the Louisville Urban League works to motivate our community, draw on our legacy of protest, and inspire people to show up and vote in the 2024 election. We need your help to reclaim the vote!

Stop Police Violence in Louisville

We stand united in our frustration and determination. No longer will we stand by and allow Black and Brown people to be abused by law enforcement.
