On September 19, 2022, Humana Inc. gifted the Louisville Urban League a charitable contribution to establish an endowment. This fund would, in perpetuity, support programs and services that build healthcare-focused pathways, increase upward mobility through education and access to training, support housing and expansion projects, and other justice-related programs. The endowment was named the Sadiqa Reynolds Legacy Endowment Fund in honor of Sadiqa Reynolds, who served as President and CEO of the League from 2015 until 2022.
In October of 2023, members of LUL met with Sadiqa to discuss her specific desires for using the funds. Per her wishes, funds will be used to establish the following:
- LUL will award the Sadiqa Reynolds Scholarship for Mental Health Resilience, an Academic Scholarship of at least $10,000 to a deserving Black public school graduating senior in Louisville, Kentucky, who has demonstrated academic resilience and has been impacted by mental illness, either personally or within their immediate family.
- LUL will award annually the Sadiqa Reynolds Louisville Urban League Employee Wellness Scholarship, a wellness scholarship for a Louisville Urban League front-line employee up to $5,000 to support initiatives to enhance their mental health and well-being.
