Humana and the Humana Foundation receives the Inaugural Ben Richmond Corporate Citizen Award
On Friday, December 2nd at the Louisville Urban League’s Annual Report Luncheon, Mike Bellissimo, Segment Vice President, Group Service Operations and member of the Louisville Urban League Board of Directors, was surprised with the Inaugural Ben Richmond Corporate Citizen Award. The award, named in honor of former Urban League President and CEO Ben Richmond, recognizes corporations in the community for their volunteerism and philanthropic support to programs and services of the Louisville Urban League.
In addition to Mike’s service on the Board of the Directors for three years, over the past year, Humana, the Humana Foundation, and Humana employees have donated more than $300,000 to the Louisville Urban League. The Humana team has offered not only treasures, but time and talent to the Louisville Urban League by assisting with IT services, project management, communications, and the League’s “Give A Day” community-wide clean up.
The partnership with Humana and the Louisville Urban League has existed more than three decades starting with Humana Founder, David Jones, Sr. The Louisville Urban League is proud to honor Humana and the Humana Foundation with this significant recognition.
“The Louisville Urban League has provided vital services to the most disadvantaged in our community for over ninety years. And, almost since our inception, Humana, the Humana Foundation and the Jones Family have all played an active role in supporting the important work of the league. My joining the Board on behalf of Humana two years ago has carried on that tradition. I am proud to be representing the great work of all of the associates who have volunteered their time over the past year, the Foundation which recently made a generous grant to the league to support our joint health initiatives related to the Bold Goal and all who have come before me to support the league.
