LUL Deposit Assistance
The Louisville Urban League is providing deposit assistance through a Louisville Metro Government-funded program. The assistance can cover the deposit and the first month’s rent on a new unit for those who qualify. To apply, read through the requirements below and then click the button to complete an application. Once all paperwork is in and correctly completed, your application will be reviewed for approval. Please be aware this is a first come, first serve program until funds run out, an application does not guarantee that you will receive funding.
Purpose: Assist Jefferson County residents who are facing housing instability with Deposit + One Month Rent.
Geography: Only available to residents of Jefferson County
Eligible Tenant applicants must meet ALL of the following:
- Be approved by a landlord to move to a unit in Jefferson County
- Gross household income before taxes cannot exceed 80% Area Median Income (AMI). Proof of income is required
- The requesting assistance is your primary residence (the address where the applicant will live and sleep).
- Applicant is in an Unstable Housing Situation, which should include any of the following:
- Applicant has received Eviction Notice
- Applicant receives subsidized housing
- Applicant’s rent is 30% or more of their income
- Applicant is currently houseless. Documentation will be required for instance that applies
- Applicant has not received Deposit assistance for the past two years.
- Applicants who have reached the Rental Assistance capacity are not eligible for this program. Capacity is defined as members of the household have received 12 months back rent and 6 months future rent.
- Those living with family and paying rent informally are not eligible.
Required documentation from The Tenant:
- Copy of Picture ID
- Completed Tenant Application
- Landlord will provide their W9
- If applies proof of subsidized housing
- One of the following may be required to document income:
- Most recent IRS 1040 tax form
- Proof of income for the past 30 days (paystubs, unemployment statement, etc.)
- Letter of eligibility from an income-based program (SNAP, LIHEAP, etc.)
Required documentation from The Landlord:
- Completed Landlord Application
- An Invoice
- W9 from the company or individual receiving payment
- Copy of Picture ID (for those who apply)
- Copy of the Lease Agreement (for those who apply)
- Proof of property ownership (for those who apply)
Email addresses are required to submit an application.
- The tenant must enter the landlord’s email address in the tenant application.
- The landlord must enter the tenant’s email address in the landlord application.
