All JCPS Schools Closed through April 20
March 16, 2020 - April 20, 2020
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — JCPS announced their schools will remain closed through at least April 20 after Gov. Andy Beshear’s recommendation. The school district has already been closed to in-person classes in order to help slow the spread of COVID-19.
Beginning April 7, the district will opt to use Non-Traditional Instruction days. NTI uses a mixture of online and hands-on learning. Those days do not have to be made up at the end of the school year, and students will be required to complete coursework which would be graded by teachers.
Dear JCPS Families,
Our first priority as a school district is to provide a safe, healthy environment for your child to learn. But, as you know, we are facing a worldwide pandemic with Coronavirus (COVID-19). With that in mind and with direction from the Governor and health experts, we are CLOSING ALL JCPS SCHOOLS BEGINNING MONDAY, MARCH 16th and continuing through the end of Spring Break. Classes are scheduled to resume on Monday, April 6.
While we are calling off classes beginning next week, JCPS SCHOOLS WILL BE OPEN TOMORROW – FRIDAY, MARCH 13th. We encourage you to send your child to school tomorrow, engage in classes, get homework from their teachers and pick up hard copies of supplemental educational materials that will allow them to continue their learning while school is out. This material will be available on our website and in students’ digital Backpacks tomorrow.
If you have health concerns, and decide to keep your student at home, this will be considered an excused absence with a parent note.
JCPS will be providing lunch to students during the closure. To see a full list of locations serving lunch, click here/Google map.
We have developed a list of frequently asked questions. You can read more details here
Please rest assured that JCPS staff will be doing additional cleaning and sanitizing of all of our buildings to prevent the spread of this virus.
We appreciate you entrusting your child with JCPS and the committed staff who care about our kids.
