Additionally, Mr. Richmond battled Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and was a frequent recipient of blood transfusions to help manage his condition. Blood transfusions cannot cure AML, but they can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. Mr. Richmond’s family encourages everyone to become a blood donor so that life-sustaining treatments like the ones Ben received can be available to everyone who needs them.
