In celebration of National Employ Older Workers Week, The Louisville Urban League’s Urban Seniors Jobs Program (USJP) is hosting its Inaugural Spotlight Awards to recruit and recognize local agencies, employers, and individuals that provide training opportunities for older workers in today’s workforce. The program will be held on September 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Louisville Urban League.

We are inviting government and nonprofit agencies to attend this spectacular event to learn more about becoming a host agency and what it means to partner with the Louisville Urban League in supporting USJP. USJP is designed to serve low-income persons, 55 or older, who are interested in returning to the workforce. Our goal is to help participants build marketable skills that will improve their ability to find jobs and transition into unsubsidized employment.

USJP is also known as the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) and is a federally funded program that has been in existence for over 46 years.  The National Urban League is the national grantee that provides program oversite and sub-contracts to other Urban League affiliates like the Louisville Urban League. Our USJP serves Bullitt, Jefferson, Nelson and Oldham Counties.

Since 1921, the Louisville Urban League has assisted marginalized people attain social and economic stability and prosperity through direct services and advocacy. The Urban League’s Center for Workforce Development touches more than 3,000 people annually through job search assistance and placement programs and through community career fairs.
