Homebuyer Education is a requirement for families who are eligible for Down Payment Assistance (DPA or “grant money”) to help buyer’s close the financial gap to homeownership. Louisville Urban League with the help of local sponsors offers Homebuyer’s Clubs to families that have a desire to become homeowners, and want to be educated on the home buying process. Homebuyer’s Club is composed of four evening sessions from 5:30-8:00 p.m. and occasionally we hold a one day class on Saturday from 9-4 at various locations. Homebuyer Education is taught by HUD- Certified Housing Counselors and industry specialist in the fields of mortgage lending, home insurance, realtors, and home inspectors to explain the ins and outs of the home buying process. You must be enrolled in the Louisville Urban League’s Center for Housing & Financial Empowerment program to be enrolled by your counselor. Sessions are held throughout the calendar year beginning in January. Homebuyer’s Club is currently being sponsored by Chase Bank.
