Louisville Urban League’s Statement on Louisville Collegiate School’s Plans to Demolish Affordable Housing

The Louisville Urban League is not working with Louisville Collegiate School and is not in support of its strategy to vacate Yorktown Apartments and displace residents. There is an affordable housing crisis in our city, and our city’s eviction rate is the seventh highest in the country. We do not support the displacement of 48 families who need housing.

Additionally, it has been reported that AllTrade is working with the Louisville Urban League to assist in the relocation of tenants of the Yorktown Apartments. In the past, LUL and AllTrade have co-convened rental readiness group education classes. However, LUL has not been approached about this relationship at Yorktown and is not, and will not be, working with any property management company engaged in this development.
